Tips For Staying Calm While Planning Your Wedding
I'm feeling stressed! Do you have any tips for staying calm? – Karen L.

Plan Ahead To Avoid Becoming Overwhelmed
It’s extremely important to minimize your stress while planning your wedding. Don’t let yourself get overwhelmed with all the extra tasks. Planning a wedding can be like having another full-time job.
- Ask for help when you need it: from your fiancé, your family, your friends and your wedding planner. If you don’t have a wedding planner, it’s not too late to get one! There are many consultants who are available to help you with all the last-minute tasks, details and questions.

Other ideas for remaining sane during the planning period:
- Don't stress about things you can't control. This includes the weather. If you’re having an outdoor wedding, make sure you have a plan B in case of rain, and then don’t spend any more time thinking about it.

- Take it one day at a time. Each of us only has 24 hours per day, and you can only do so much. Tackle the crucial things first (what MUST be done today?), and prioritize the rest. Don’t forget to allot some time for dates with your fiancé, as well as proper eating and sleeping. You need to stay healthy and get your beauty rest during this busy time!

- Stay organized with your checklists. Your wedding planner will have provided you with monthly and/or weekly wedding task lists. If you don’t have a wedding planner, there are many great wedding websites and books that include comprehensive to-do lists. This will ensure that you don’t forget something crucial.

The Big Day Is Approaching!
As the wedding day approaches, it’s more important than ever to stay calm.
- If something’s not done, it may not get done. It’s OK if you don’t have 300 handmade favors with personalized ribbon, or even that you don’t have favors at all. Trust me, your guests will not notice. The only thing you MUST do is get your marriage license.

On the wedding day:
- Trust your vendors to do their jobs. You have hired them based on your confidence in them, and you’ve had all your planning meetings, so they all know your expectations of them. Just relax and let these professionals work together to make this the best day of your life. Your job is to look beautiful, enjoy spending time with your family and friends, and focus on the commitment you’re about to make.

- Be in the moment and let the joy in your heart shine through. You are queen for the day, so conduct yourself regally and treat everyone around you with compassion and love.

My best advice is to remember that in the end, as long as you and your fiancé and the officiant are there and you get married, that's what it's all about: the two of you and your new beginning. Everything else is just icing on the cake!
