Several of my recent brides have told me they are planning to give a donation to a charity in lieu of traditional favors. I love this idea, especially because it is another opportunity to be creative with your theme, and a way to personalize your wedding by helping a cause that is near and dear to your heart.
Make Your Own Favors
You can set up the donations yourself, and make little cards to hand out to guests or place at each seat to let them know that a donation has been made in their honor. If you want, you can attach a little piece of candy or some other small token to the cards to give guests something to take home.
Order Favors Online
Another great option is to order from GiveFavors.com. This company specializes in personalized favors that are unique, interesting and inexpensive. If you can't find what you're looking for on the site, give them a call and they will locate it for you, or provide you with alternatives. The best part, though, is that a percent of each sale goes to non-profit (this year it's Oprah's Angel Network).
